Taiwan golfing sensation Yani Tseng was voted Female Player of the Year Dec. 17 by the Golf Writers Association of America.
Tseng received 69 percent of votes, leaving runners-up Christie Kerr from the United States and Ai Miyazato from Japan in her wake with 16 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
“Thank you for the recognition. I will keep up the good work! Thanks a lot, everyone!” Tseng wrote on Facebook after learning of the news.
The latest honor adds to Tseng’s growing list of accolades, which includes five LPGA Tour wins, the 2008 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award and the 2010 Rolex Player of the Year award.
Tseng, 21, wrapped up her best year so far with eight top-10 LPGA Tour finishes for fourth place on the prize money list, according to the LPGA.
The GWAA award will be presented at the association’s annual dinner April 6, 2011 in Augusta, Georgia. (JSM)
